Many thanks to everyone for the excellent support on Sunday. There was plenty to cheer about as the boys ran in 14 tries and only conceded 4 against a brawny, determined side from South Leicester.
We continued to ring a few positional changes and looked nervous at times. We were pushed far harder than the scoreboard would suggest but the Buckby handling has improved massively as backs and forwards linked up with hooker, Lennon, memorably popping up on the wing to run in from 40m. There were some fine ‘chop’ tackles and if we were occasionally out muscled at the breakdown, we made up for it with excellent broken field running. We didn’t quite get our attacking patterns going so, with a few tweaks, there should be plenty more to come from this side. This was very challenging physically and the boys fronted up bravely but took several knocks including Tom who we’re pleased to say, will only be out for a couple of weeks.
